The
time is vital flow, constant movement and consuming scans of human existence. This feeling are permeated the walls of the Cen against Strozzina for Contemporary Art, Palazzo Strozzi, who until July 18, 2010 will be hosting the exhibition 'As Soon As Possible : acceleration in contemporary society'. The exhibition, curated by Franziska Nori, investigates the frenzy of modern man, the creator of a time dimension in which velocity and acceleration dictate the timing of civil society. Ten international artists, with their works, they face in ways different conception of time, giving the visitor what happens in the 'high speed society', model of life in which the predominant tendency to make every moment with greed. Hours dilated, incessant work and private life clippings that result in the collapse of the emotionally stifled by a sense of unease, anxiety and depression.
Delving into the premises of
Strozzina means to live a multisensory experience. Walking through the rooms there is a feeling of emptiness. Analyzing environments minimal, characterized only by the presence of contemporary installations, the impression of being overwhelmed by a cascade of subliminal messages that lead to reflection. Watch
abrasion of a wheel spinning on the floor constantly leaving rubber compounds (
Zeit ist keine Autobahn , 2010, Michael Sailstorfer
) or wait for a glass bottle, slowly filled with nitrogen, pulverize it explodes (
Expansion air of a living force , 2010, Archangel Sassolino ) means perceiving time as wear and not as a creative act. persuaded by a new awareness and quoting Baudelaire seems that " There is only one way to forget the time use it."
